You’re likely to have experienced it before - the ‘helper’s high’ you feel when supporting others and giving to those less fortunate. Often referred to as the ‘warm glow of giving’, it’s a wonderful and satisfying feeling available to you and your students when you support the fundraising element of Makedo Change. 

We have partnered with The Life You Can Save, which recommends high-impact charities that save lives and improve wellbeing based on independent research conducted by experts.

For our inaugural Makedo Change program, we have chosen to support Evidence Action, a charity endorsed by The Life You Can Save, which addresses the issue of Water Safety. 

Unsafe water is a leading cause of death in children under five. Tragically, most of these deaths are preventable, and water treatment is one of the most cost-effective ways to combat unsafe water. Through Evidence Action’s Safe Water Now Program, over ten million people have been provided with access to safe water through chlorination.

Now, there’s learning, and there’s doing. Fundraising enables students to put their knowledge, skills and passion into positive action. Even if your students can only raise $1.50, that amount can provide safe water for one child for an entire year. What an achievement!

The influence of the students’ fundraising efforts can be calculated with TLYCS Impact Calculator, which is a great way for students to see the impact they are making.

And who knows, basking in the warm glow from this giving experience could spark a lifetime of service, the positive ripples of which are enormous.
