Activity

Bite-Sized Build

Students are to build a cardboard vehicle for one or more of their soft toys. It can be a car, train, bike, plane or anything their imagination creates. Students may like to use the Roto-Ring to create full rotational movement to their vehicle (eg. wheels and propellers). Then, it’s time to take the toys on an imaginative adventure!

Reflection

Journal Prompts

  • What challenges did you face when creating your toy transporter? How did you overcome these?

  • What additions or adjustments could you make to enhance the experience for your toy while they travel in their vehicle?

  • How could you make your toy transporter more environmentally friendly?

Extension

Take It Further

  • Add moving parts to your vehicle.

  • Conduct a race to see which vehicle is the fastest.

  • Measure the time each vehicle takes to travel a set distance and graph the results.

  • Write a story where your toy is the main character, detailing the adventures that they go on in their vehicle.
