Make a human figure
Transform a body trace into a 2D moving human figure using Makedo tools and upcycled cardboard.

Materials
Makedo Invent Kit
Upcycled cardboard, big enough for students to trace the outline of their bodies
Makedo Roto-Ring (optional)
Activity
Bite-Sized Build
Students begin by tracing the outline of a classmate onto cardboard, then cut it out using the Safe-Saw. Next, break the figure into sections that they wish to use to create joints (eg. at the shoulder, elbow, hip). Using Makedo Scru connectors, students then assemble the pieces of their figure into a moving cardboard person. To enable smooth motion or free-spinning movement, students can include the Makedo Roto-Ring at certain joints.

Extension
Take It Further
Explore anatomy by drawing and annotating the major bones of the body onto your 2D human.
Create a mechanism, such as a pulley system, to make your human figure move.
Create a drama performance or a dance with a group of movable figures.
Use the movable figures to make a stop-motion animation.
